Likewise, on both accounts. If you a/b the AA and Oasys on the same
patient (allowing for adaption and dissipation of the slick stuff in the
storage solution), AA always looses. It'll be gone in no time. The lens
has no place in my practice, especially considering the superior
alternatives.

I sent all of my Acuvue Advance back for the Oasys, and I don't
dispense any AV2's anymore.

Here's one. I have a lot of patients wearing AV283, and for the past year
I've sent many of them home wearing an AVA trial on one eye, AV2 on the
other, to compare and choose. With a sample of around 200 patients, roughly
40-50% prefer AVA for comfort, to the degree that AV2 has fallen behind AVA
in sales at one office.

There's a small number, maybe 5%, who find the AVA distinctly _less_
comfortable than the AV2. I don't have an explanation for that.

I haven't used Oasys as much, but it does seem to outpace the Advance, at
least a little.

I've only tried the Advance on a few patients but so far none have been
very enthusiastic about it. I haven't heard too many good stories about
it from others either.

I've heard plenty of good stories about the Oasys... but it's not
available here in Australia just yet! Looking forward to trying it.

So base curve is irrelevant?

The two materials are pretty similar.

thanks for the heads up. Ive tried several different brands and none
are comfortable. And now that I find out I have -1.5 diopters
astigmastim in the right eye, I wont get very good vision except from
RGP contacts.

Default Acuvue Advance to Oasys Positive Switch

My wife has been suffering through the use of Acuvue Advance lenses for
the past year. Mostly the brand new Advance lenses were scratchy out of
the pkg. I told her about the fairly new Oasys lenses and she just went
into the eye doctor. He had her fitted with the trial Oasys lenses right
after the exam. Immediately she felt the difference in comfort. Now she
is an immediate believer in the Oasys lens and will NEVER go back to the
Advance lenses.

I wanted to share this in case there are other Acuvue Advance lens
"sufferers" out there and need to find a solution. You might consider
the Acuvue Oasys lenses.
