No-one cares, especially Lisbeth. You will not get OK because you won't
have anything to bore us with.

Go away Nancy.

maybe you cant tolerate any monovision, not even -.5 diopters of it. I
can tolerate a small difference between the two eyes. Its your eyes, if
you prefer to wear glasses, do what you want. Once I get orthoK and
reduce my pescription, I will be going without glasses most of the time
and certainly no glasses for the computer.

In which case I would suggest to wear the glasses. The -0.50 difference
is enough to cause you problems. Good luck.

I don't think so, in fact my eyes feel acutally more relaxed even wearing
glasses for PC and reading. My right eye is kind of troublesome, if I go
without glasses it let s me know - it gives me alot of discomfort.

Maybe a -0.5D monocle?

So, Dr. Catman, what is her best solution? Are you saying that her
perception of eyestrain will go away if she waits a little?

I am interested because, as a slightly myopic kid, I had a 0.5D imbalance
which I thought made reading without glasses tough. Over the years, the
imbalance progressed to ~3D, and the overall myopia worsened.

Yes, but your right eye is focussed at 36cm, so it will be a little
blurry. This is probably where the strain comes after a while,
squinting to get it slightly clearer. Do you get the same problem with
your glasses on?

At worst, the strain will go in a little time.

Dr Grant, the 42cm away from the screen is where I sit without glasses and I
can easily read at this distance with glasses on

Lisbeth, the normal distance of a PC screen to the eye is 60-65cm. A
laptop screen a little closer, around 50cm.

With glasses off, your eyes are focussed at 36 and 44cm. If your screen
is at 42cm, then your right eye will be a little blurred and your left
eye clear when your glasses are off. This is probably why you get
discomfort after a period of time.

What I look at is where do you want to have the screen, and correct you
for that distance, e.g. is your screen at 42cm because that is where
you can get it clear with no specs or is that where you like it or is
that how it fits on your desk? Can you read comfortably at this
distance with your glasses on? Is it more comfortable if you move the
screen further away?
