| Turns out I have pterygium as well. I assume it's not considered to be a big problem, since nobody even told me the name before. I was once prescribed some steroid eyedrops to stop inflammation. My question for the docs: Is it possible that this is the source of my astigmatism (~1D) even though the ptergyium is not encroaching into the cornea? -- |

Depends on what needs to be done, sometimes a graft is needed. Sincepterygium usually grow back and the removal leaves a scar, surgery is usually not done unless absolutely needed.
