Imagine you want to have sex with a girl.

Do you think you should put some stuff on your dick that does the job
for you?

Don't you think it is good to thrust back and forth, "accomodating"
your rod as you please?

It seems you have very much confusion in your head about how the human
body works.

You think that to eliminate strain you have to use not the organ!

This is quite wrong: if you do not use the organ, it shrivels.

You should learn how to use it without straining but with full force
and power.

Otherwise, what is the reason for you to be alive on this planet?

Jack,

I agree that an atoric design is probably the best lens for this Rx, and that it
can be a good thing if your optician is presbyopic, although some younger
opticians can fit complex designs exceedingly well. They can't experience the
difference between lens designs though, and must rely to some extent on the
manufacturers marketing department.

Atorics lenses reduce off-axis errors, resulting in a larger, clearer field of
vision, especially for astigmats. Companies that produce PAL's with atoric
designs are Zeiss, Rodenstock, Seiko, Essilor and J&J. Optima's Resolution
utilizes an atoric design and might be a good choice for the SV glasses.

Hope this helps,

My suggestion is for you to get the OD to let you configure your own
prescription. Tell him/her what you want to do and figure out the
range you want to see clearly in such as for me about 5-10ft for
tv/computer glasses for putting less strain on your eyes, then
configure long range for driving. It seems to me so far the less you
use them the better you will be off, while researching what to do for
myself for the cure for not using glasses.

Your rx is also written as:

OD -0 -3 x10
OS -2.75 -1 x160

For high cylinder rx like yours (and mine) "atoric" grind lenses are
often recommended. One professional in this group recommends the
Rodenstock Multigressiv for a progressive lens. The Sola Vizio 1.66
is an atoric single vision lens.

I wear the Sola for my moderately high astigmatism and it seems to
work well for me. My next progressive will be an atoric as well.

Your Rx is expressed with a + Cylinder, and I am not sure how strong it is
unless translated into a - (minus) Cylinder they way that most optometrists
do it. Maybe someone on this newsgroup can convert it for us. But your add
power is quite strong.

Choosing the right material is also important (many of the lenses come in
multiple different materials). Please be aware that the higher the index,
generally the thinner the lens, but the optical quality goes down with the
higher index lens. This is not an exact relationship, and there are some
exceptions, and note that polycarb is only moderately thin, but has the
worst optics of almost any lens material (but has high tensile strength and
high impact resistance).

Fitting of the lens and the frame are extremely important with progressives.

In general, some of the best lens designs are the premium products from
Rodenstock, Zeiss, Seiko, Pentax, Varilux, Hoya and others. But I am not a
optician, so others can be more specific advice on lenses. If possible, wait
until Monday for more responses from this newsgroup. Some of the
professionals do not respond to this newsgroup over the weekend.

Mark,

I am going to independent optician, but I would like to know the best brand name lenses and design that would work with my prescription.

Thanks, Jack.

With that RX, stay away from polycarbonate material.

Find an independent optician that can order brand name lenses, and stay away
from chain stores like LensCrafters. However, some chains like Wal-Mart and
Costco Optical carry some brand names.

Find an optician who wears progressives themselves. If the first person you
meet in the store is too young to wear progressives, ask to talk to someone
else, or go to another store.
